Motion in Dialogue (MIND) is the performance group co-founded by Bronwen MacArthur and Emily Coates in 2005.  The work of Motion in Dialogue provides an arena for MacArthur and Coates to explore the relationships between the theory and practice of performance.  Collaborators have included: Elizabeth Alexander (poet, professor, performer), Satya Bhabha (actor, dancer), Lasso Coulibaly (dancer, choreographer), John Mangan (guitarist), Eric Meridiano (pianist), Joseph Roach (professor, scholar, director), and Willow Williamson (composer).

MIND traveled to Paris in June, 2007, to present at the CORD (Congress on Research in Dance)/SDHS (Society of Dance History Scholars) joint conference entitled "Re-Thinking Practice and Theory."  In October 2007, Coates and MacArthur performed excerpts from their 2005 piece "Memory Suite" as part of the DeVane Lecture series given by Professor Joseph Roach at the Center for British Art at Yale.  MIND then performed a new trio with Lasso Coulibaly at Brown University as part of another lecture by Professor Roach and again for MDP's fundraiser.

For a spring 2008 seminar in the Theater Studies department at Yale, Coates, MacArthur and Roach co-directed Don't Look Back! a rock 'n roll Orpheus, a dance theater piece considering the consequences of looking back.  Don't Look Back! was presented as part of the Looking Back/Looking Forward Orpheus Conference at Whitney Humanities Center, Yale.

Coates and MacArthur helped to celebrate the opening of the new theater in the renovated Jonathan Edwards College, December 1, 2008 with a new work in progress.
