MDP has begun work on a new piece that will premiere at the Arts Bank in Philadelphia in May, 2011. We will be performing informal showings of the work in progress as part of our Susan Hess Modern Dance Choreographer's Project residency.
From the Margins, This, Unmentioned
A co-production with composer Bryan Senti, From the Margins, This, Unmentioned is a multimedia creation inspired by a set of poems written by Kat Mandeville. Danced by 7 dancers, the work premiered at the Brooklyn Lyceum, NY, October, 2009, with a live orchestra of 18 musicians and vocalists. With art installations by Planet, costumes by Maja Gunn and lighting by Jim French, From the Margins combines the talents and visions of an exciting group of artists. One movement, Ocelot, a trio, was performed at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Edinburgh, Scotland, August 8th-15th.
